New Federal Income Tax Filing Deadline Announced

The U.S. Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, announced today that federal income tax returns will now be due July 15, 2020 – matching the deferred payment due date. This measure is extended to all taxpayers and businesses, allowing additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.

Various states are expected to announce today that they will be putting the same deferral periods in place related to the payment and filing of income tax returns. Once we have confirmation on how Missouri plans to move forward, we will share this information.

While filing deadlines have been deferred, KPM will continue to work to complete tax returns on a timely basis. For additional information and discussion on how this may impact your tax situation, please contact your KPM tax advisor.
