Alert for Employers: I-9 Verification Changes Coming Soon

By: Patti Callaway

Attention employers: As of July 31, 2023, the remote verification of employee identification for completing and verifying I-9 forms will no longer be allowed.

All forms must be physically reviewed within three business days of the employee’s start date. This means that employers must physically examine the documents presented by new employees and complete Section 2 of the Form I-9. Confirm your organization is in compliance with these requirements to avoid any penalties or legal issues.
